The first thing you should know before engaging with a medium is that they are basically a human telephone to the spirit world—they communicate with spirits. However they are like a telephone without a dial. They don’t have a phonebook and just call up anyone from the spirit world that you want. You basically get whoever is on the other end when he or she “links” with the spirit world.
#2) Spirits get in touch with psychic mediums through various means of communication
1 - Some mediums see spirits as a physical manifestation, also called clairvoyance. Only some spirits choose to show themselves to a medium who has this ability. If the medium can see spirits, part of the communication will be based on seeing something in their mind’s eye (like an inner vision), or they may even see spirits as a faint real person.
2 - Some mediums can hear spirits, also called clairaudience. In this way, the spirits actually seem to be talking to the medium. The medium sometimes hear the communication in their mind (like hearing thoughts), or they may hear the spirit in a more traditional way. Unfortunately, some spirits are not the greatest communicators and the signal may be faint. In this way the medium may get signals crossed or receive the message properly.
3 - Some mediums receive messages telepathically, like an inner knowing and/or inner sensing, sometimes called channeling. Messages are sent directly from the spirit’s mind to the medium’s mind, as well as vice versa. For example the spirit might flash a picture or a word in the medium’s mind. These spirits have the ability to use the medium’s brain like a file cabinet, and they will conduct a search through the medium’s knowledge and experiences for the best ways to communicate what they want to convey.
4 - Some mediums get physical and emotional feelings or sensations in their body and mind, also called clairsentience. A spirit can make the medium feel pain or emotion in an effort to convey a message like a sickness or a cause of death.
#3) All those in the room have an effect on the clarity of the message.
The person being read (also called the sitter), and anyone in the room (random people or audience members in the room), will affect the clarity of the messages.
Sometimes too many skeptical people in the room can block or greatly diminish the quality of the readings. Low level mental energy like fear or anger are especially bad for inhibiting the clarity of the messages Same goes if you are on medication or abusing drugs or alcohol.
We can help the medium to have an extremely clear path while on stage, or in a private reading, or by telephone by sending them love and acceptance. You could even say a little prayer to help the medium. Sitting there with folded arms and an angry look on your face certainly won’t help!.
#4) The medium usually has simple questions. Yes, No or Maybe!
You don’t need to do much talking when visiting a medium. Usually a nod or two will be fine. Let the medium do the talking. You are there to listen.
#5) Don’t be feeding the medium!
And finally “Don’t Feed The Medium!” If they tell you that your Uncle Mike is present don’t blurt out that he was in a car accident and died two years ago. Let the medium tell you these details After all, that is what you are there for!
